LINKFresh®
Wins Innovation of The Year at Fresh Produce Oscars
Anglia Business Solutions today announces that its
LINKFresh® LABELCheck application was crowned the Innovation of
the Year at the 2007 Refresh Awards; the annual awards for the fresh produce
industry. The award recognised LABELCheck as the new product that has most
contributed to the development of the fresh produce industry in the UK since
April 2006.
Commenting on the decision one of the awarding judges
said, “At last an IT solution that has significant tangible benefits
whilst remaining easy to use and highly portable".
The gala ceremony was held on 10th May at The London
Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square. The LABELCheck solution beat off strong
category entries from Tesco and Norton Folgate to win the prize.
Anglia’s managing director David Hurley said, “Winning
the prestigious Refresh award in the innovation category was a tremendous
achievement given the blue chip profile of the competition. Great credit is
due to our technical people and the customers who worked with us to create
and deploy this highly innovative application”.
The LINKFresh LABELCheck application is the result of
significant investment in Microsoft’s .NET framework by Anglia. The company
has developed a catalogue of re-useable objects as a platform for the
development of groundbreaking business-oriented mobile and e-commerce
solutions. LABELCheck itself is a mobile application designed for the
packhouse or field environment. It ensures that every aspect of labelling
for each delivery is verified against information held in a central business
management system before product is allowed to leave the premises.
The LABELCheck system has recently been deployed by
leading fresh produce marketer G’s Marketing. They supply a variety of fresh
products to leading retailers, many of whom have introduced fines for
product mislabelling. Once implemented, the system eliminated EPW’s,
improved productivity and staff morale as well as making a significant
financial contribution to the business.
The key challenge facing the IT sector servicing the
needs of the fresh produce industry is the rapidly changing business models
inherent in the industry. Both Anglia’s LINKFresh management applications
and the .NET-based LABELCheck & QC Systems are ideally suited to operate in
this dynamic environment.
