The Garage
Door Company to send employee productivity “up and over” with Microsoft
Dynamics NAV mobility solution
Anglia
Business Solutions have announced that it is to deploy a Microsoft .NET
mobile warehousing and mobile field sales solution at The Garage Door
Company. As the largest retailer of garage doors in the
UK, the company has over a decade of
experience supplying, installing, repairing and automating garage doors.
The project will extend the
existing Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV solution to incorporate a fully integrated
mobile warehousing solution at locations in Sheffield, Leeds, Nottingham,
Leicester, Southampton and
Manchester. The system will
include mobile applications for goods in and receiving, item put away,
warehouse transfers, goods out and stock take.
The project also includes the
provision of a mobile field sales application. This will
allow the field sales and surveyor teams to complete tasks whilst on the
road. These include brochure requests, preparation & printing of customer
quotations, customer order acceptance and signature capture. It also
includes appointment scheduling and management, customer job search and
reporting & general administration.
Financial Director for The
Garage Door Company, Peter Flower said, “The mobile warehouse solution will
provide real time information on
stock levels and stock movements while removing the need for paper-based
processes. Every item of stock will be electronically
tracked from entering our warehouses to leaving for a customer site. Using
mobile technology our surveyors will be able to interrogate stock levels
remotely and generate quotations whilst with customers.
The customer’s signature can also be captured for order acceptance. This
triggers the creation of the required sales/purchase orders on the back
office NAV solution. The surveyor will also be able to
schedule an installation date at the time by accessing the calendar for the
installation teams. This state of the art solution will
help to improve efficiencies, eliminate administration overheads and delays
and lower our telephone costs”.
Commenting on the new project
Jeremy Baker, Managing Director of The Garage Door Company, said, “We have
experienced many business benefits from the use of our Microsoft Dynamics
NAV solution internally. Now we want to extend the system to include our
non-office-based staff. These include people in our warehouses and the sales
and surveyor teams on the road. The overall aim of the
project is to reduce administration workload and improve employee
productivity. However, we also want to use this advanced technology as an
aid to improving service to our customers.”
